Every now and then as a woman goes out,
She first steps out of her house gently,
Closes the gate cautiously,
And walks quietly thereafter,
So that no sound reaches the ears of the beast
As she steps out to the world, full of hope but tainted with fear,
She finds herself alone in the streets filled with man and man only.
She can forget her school bag, her documents, her coat, her keys, her writings,
But one thing she is molded not to forget is that she cannot raise her head while walking,
not utter a reasonable thought while talking,
not to leave without a dupatta,
And worst of all,
Not think as an independent entity
She and then eventually her whole society ceases to exist.
This is how a nation fails.
